RM of Bjorkdale’s story
The Rural Municipality of Bjorkdale No. 426 became an incorporated rural municipality on January 1, 1913, in the years when settlement was taking hold across the Saskatchewan prairie and parkland.
Today the RM surrounds the villages of Bjorkdale and Mistatim, and its office is in Bjorkdale. Within its boundaries are the organized hamlets of Barrier Ford and Chelan, along with a number of smaller localities: Crooked River, Marean Lake Resort, Merle, Orley, Peesane, Pré-Ste-Marié and Steen.
A municipal council and an appointed administrator run local affairs, meeting on the first Wednesday of each month.
